Forgotten Realms 'Shards of Ancient Rune'
Welcome to the “Shards of Ancient Rune” which takes place in Forgotten Realms on the continent of Chult in the Southwestern Hemisphere of the world.
Chapter I – The Tide
Setting upon a journey for their own reasons, our heroes began from Waterdeep. With a ship full of food, drink and arms bound for the blockaded Port City of Narwick in the Kingdom of Samarach. Unknown to the heroes that the city was blockaded, they regarded the journey as nothing more than a ship bound ride to new beginnings. However, their idea of the voyage would soon change.
Out of the misty fog nearing the city awoke a metal steam beast which appeared to be part of the blockade. It would eventually catch their ship, supposedly the fastest ship in Waterdeep, The Banshee. The metal ship fired several shots from its massive guns before disabling the heroes ship. When events seemed as if they could not get any worse, the metal ship began to pull alongside the Banshee to board her.
A second volley of shots again rang out from the metal ship only this time the Banshee found herself right alongside the opposing ship. This blow would severely cripple the heroes ship taking out the entire port side hull. The heroes began to scramble, some searched for lifeboats while others prepared themselves for what seemed to be a deadly fight. One of our heroes, the barbarian known only as Ivan, was the first to witness the metal beast’s hatch began to open.
The captain of the Banshee Henrich Roomrift, along with another one of our heroes – a paladin known to others as Rath, with a hand full of sailors left alive made their way downward to the opening hatch preparing for the upcoming battle. Seeing that something was amiss, the heroes Imzel the Wizard and the Bard Tarus made their way as well to the below decks but not before hearing a loud sound, which our heroes could only make out as the sounding of large gears turning. The heroes gathered below on the third deck. Preparing for the hatch to fully open they gazed in curiosity as they were joined by our last hero. A wizardly folk, draped in robes and bearing shackles on his wrist. The heroes would later come to know him by Akmenos.
When the hatch finally came open full, the heroes witnessed humanoid figures in a tight formation of shields and platemail all shaded to black.
